Who is the MSR Elixir 2 UK made for?
The MSR Elixir 2 tent is ideal for paddlers, hikers, trekkers and backpackers who don’t mind the little extra weight. It is an ideal companion on any short hauls. The adventurers always prefer lightweight (LW) tents that do not weight them down as they explore rugged and unfriendly terrain. With the advances in technology, you can now buy even ultralight weight (ULW) tents too.
ULW’s weigh less than a pound when compared with light weight models which are around 2 kg. The main difference between is in the weight which is dependent on the fabric and the poles used. To keep the weight down in ULWs the poles are made of feather light aluminum or carbon and the fabric is premium nylon. Invariably ultralight weight tents are les durable, less spacious and have few features. But with the advancement of technology latest models are coming up which are more durable and have better features than their predecessors.

Is the MSR Elixir 2 person tent Bad weather resistant?
The MSR Elixir 2 is a 3 season tent but is constructed to withstand the strongest of winds and the stormiest of rain. You need to buy additional shock chords to fasten the tent tightly. A summary of MSR Elixir 2 UK customer reviews
The customer feedback for the MSR Elixir 2 has been very positive and satisfactory. The tent is very comfortable, sturdy and durable. The common feeling among users is that this tent is an invaluable addition to their camping gear. It is easy to set up, withstands bad weather and comes with a very useful footprint. The customers are unanimous in their decision that it is real value for money.
Easy to pitch and of quality material, ample room for two, I’m 6ft 1 and there is lots of head room whilst sitting up, something I was looking for. Lovely colour, lots of ventilation, great two door/two vestibule idea. Oddly no guy ropes-I’ve since ordered some to add to the already existing places on tent for guy ropes.
I used this on my trip around Africa, 8 months
Its very light and easy to put up
I used this 2 man tent for just me, Its definitely ‘very tight with 2 people and their kit, more so if you both try and bring a big ruck sack and day bag into it, but with one person, its comfortable, with room to spread out
After a while you get used to putting it up in all weathers and in the dark
I used to get it up in under 5 minutes
The foor print isn’t very thick and on stony, rocky ground, does wear through in places, it could really be thicker
The poles are supposed to be aircraft grade aluminium, but I broke one of my poles and it couldn’t be repaired in the bush, so I used gaffer tape, but it would only last the one night.,
Its very hard to find a repair kit that actually fits these poles (I had to contact customer services to get a replacement)
There was a bush fire 2 miles away, hot embers floated over, I had no worries, I was told the tent was fire retardant, well it isn’t, I had small holes burnt in it (again customer services supplied me with repair patches)
It held up to the winds in the Sudan, but the supplied pegs were pretty rubbish, (I had my old 12 inch pegs they saved the day)
It held up to the floods in Morocco, but it did let water in through the ground sheet, but if its put away wet, it can dry out fairly quickly if there is a but of wind
There was a lot of times I just used the inner fly sheet rather than the rain sheet,, it was just too hot the fly sheet does keep the mozzies out and using just the fly sheet gives you a wonderful view of the nigh sky
I have put reinforced bits on my poles, just so they don break on me again (they break where the smaller part inserts the other pole)
It does come with a red repair tube, but its too big and any repair requires the poles to be dismantled, so don’t even try it in the field
All in all its not a bad tent, but not really suitable for extended use (certainly not 8 months of constant use in bush camps, campsites
