These walking boots are a blessing if—like me—you have abnormally wide feet. But the XX-wide 6E fit is only a boon if they can tick enough of the other boxes. Let’s find out.

The name “Cliff Walker” first caught my eye when curating the shortlist of extra wide hiking boots. The XX-wide fit is also a huge plus point for anyone with diabetes or swollen arthritic feet and ankles.

The Outsole

The unique self-cleaning rubber outsole is more than a novelty. It really does help to steady the feet when walking across varied terrain.

The Cliff Walker Walking Boot Upper

The upper shoe is waterproofed leather. Propét Cliff Walker comes with two pull loops, one at the heel and the other at the tongue. And the lacing system consists of two D rings and speed laces. It’s an arrangement that makes tying laces and getting the shoes on and off super easy.

Inside the Cliff Walker

Propét padded the collars and the sewn-in tongues to improve comfort and keep debris out. Plus, the walking boot has waterproof membranes and removable insoles for extra cushioning. Now add the extra wide fit, and you’ve got shoes that are perfect for all-day hikes. I didn’t do marathon treks in this footwear, but I could have done.

Conclusion

Wide and extra wide walking boots are available in sizes 7–15. Propét actually offers footwear in five widths, which is music to the ears of those who have hard-to-fit feet. The wide-fitting Cliff Walkers look great, plus they’re comfortable and affordable… all things considered. The lack of insulation is the only downside if you hike in the extreme cold.
